In a bid to relieve companies of administrative burdens during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government has introduced new regulations which provide temporary extensions to Statutory Accounts and Confirmation Statement filing deadlines at Companies House, as follows:
- Statutory Accounts – for filing deadlines falling between 27 June 2020 to 5 April 2021, deadlines have been automatically extended by 3 months; and
- Confirmation Statements – the current 14 day filing deadline for Confirmation Statements has been automatically extended to 42 days from the annual review date.
These changes have been processed at Companies House online.
Extensions have also been permitted for event-driven filings such as a change of directors’ details, but we recommend that these continue to be lodged at Companies House as they come up, where possible.
Please be aware that the Corporation Tax payment deadline currently remains at 9 months and 1 day after the accounting period end date. Therefore, to avoid interest being charged on late Corporation Tax payments, we would advise that, wherever possible, the current 9 month Statutory Accounts filing deadline is met to ensure you have an accurate Corporation Tax figure in advance of the payment due date.
